His Excellency the President of the Republic, Mr. Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, presided today, Thursday, over the inauguration of the Vocational and Technical Training School for Mining, Oil, and Gas, located in the Ksar district of Nouakchott. This inauguration comes 18 months after the launch of the construction works, which was officially initiated by the President on November 15, 2023.
The newly completed facility spans an area of over 3 hectares and includes a lecture hall with a capacity for 130 students, an administrative wing, a library, simulation rooms (drilling and production/maintenance), six classrooms, eight specialized laboratories (geology, chemistry, transport, thermodynamics, simulation, control, electronics, and instrumentation), and eight technical workshops (electricity, milling, quality control, welding, general mechanics, heavy equipment and vehicles, engines, and brakes). The site also features maneuvering and cleaning zones, as well as IT rooms. The project was completed in 18 months at a total cost of approximately 211 million new ouguiyas.
